UFC 297 was quite a successful event. It promised to be entertaining and safe to say, it delivered on that promise. As far as the main event was concerned, a new middleweight champion was crowned i.e., Dricus Du Plessis. His fight with Sean Strickland? A war. A sheer blood bath. However, with this win, he also finds himself at the centre of scrutiny.

According to the former middleweight champion, the South African head-butted him in the middle of the fight. This impaired his eye-sight and he found it difficult to see thereafter. He stated, “Well f*ck haha… man that headbutt made it difficult to see but I thought we got the job done. Blood and all!!! Onto the next one!!! Thanks to everyone who supported me!!!!!!”

In the post-fight press conference, the new champion was asked about this alleged act. In his response, he simply denied knowing anything about this. He stated, “I can’t say I did. It is the first time I have heard of it. I did not feel anything—He said I head-butted him. I can’t remember any head butt.”

It appears this debacle is going to be the talk of the town for the next couple of days. However, for all we know, there is a new champion and there might be an arch nemesis of his who wants a piece of him.

What lies ahead of Du Plessis?
