Is Dana White's narrative about Ngannou's courage just a smokescreen for his own inconsistencies?

It is public knowledge that Dana White and Francis Ngannou do not like each other. Since Ngannou left the UFC last year on acrimonious terms, the UFC CEO has spared no opportunity to denigrate the former heavyweight champion. To the point of essentially calling Ngannou a coward who was too scared to fight Jon Jones.

Which, of course, is the exact opposite of what the head honcho had claimed back when Ngannou was in the UFC and Jones demanded $30 million to fight ‘The Predator’. And Francis Ngannou, tired of being besmirched by White has clapped back with the receipts. The PFL heavyweight champion shared a clip Jake Paul tweeted where Dana White, three years ago, could be seen implying that Jones was the one who was ducking Ngannou.

“Divert attention to the real matter by manipulating the narrative. Lol,” Ngannou wrote, amused at the UFC CEO’s purported duplicity.

The clip Paul tweeted was from the post-fight press conference for UFC 260 where Ngannou had sent Stipe Miocic to the netherworld with a fantastic, leg-twisting knockout. At that time, Jones was bulking up to move to heavyweight, which he would suspiciously continue to do until it was clear Ngannou was leaving the promotion. But now ‘The Predator’ has not only moved to the PFL but also become its heavyweight champion.

But Jake Paul, who did the hard work of finding the clip and sharing it on his X account has even more grind ahead of him as he gets ready for the biggest fight of his boxing career.

Fans hoping Mike Tyson pulls a Francis Ngannou on Jake Paul in their upcoming fight

What’s your perspective on:

Is Dana White's narrative about Ngannou's courage just a smokescreen for his own inconsistencies?

Have an interesting take?

Mike Tyson, nearly twenty years after his retirement, remains the most famous man in all of combat sports. And despite being old and suffering from a bevy of health issues (including mobility issues, which have forced him to use a wheelchair on occasion), ‘Iron Mike’ is back in action. Or rather he will be on November 15, not in an exhibition, but in an eight-round pro boxing bout against Jake Paul.

And Paul, who is three decades younger, in his athletic prime, and quite active, has all the advantages over an old and ailing Tyson. On paper, the fight is not a foregone conclusion as some think. After all, Tyson, the youngest-ever heavyweight champion has forgotten more than Jake Paul has ever learned about boxing.

Not to mention ‘Iron Mike’ was one of the most fearsome and powerful punchers in the history of the sport. And since power is the last thing to go, Tyson still can put Paul’s lights out with just one well-placed punch. In addition, Tyson is naturally bigger than Paul, who is bulking up to fight the former champion. And that bulking up may affect Paul’s speed and stamina, which needs to fail for only a moment for Tyson to repeat what Ngannou did to Miocic at their UFC 260 rematch.

All of this, of course, may just be wishful thinking on fight fans’ part who love Tyson, but no one can deny that there are some very real scenarios Mike Tyson knocks out Jake Paul. What are your thoughts on Francis Ngannou clapping back at Dana White?
