Former UFC champ and current ONE flyweight king Demetrious Johnson recently took over the official ONE championship Reddit page as part of his promotional duties for his next fight. Johnson will be facing Adriano Moraes in a trilogy that will also serve as the organization’s first event to take place in the USA. Keeping this massive event in mind, ‘Mighty Mouse’ had an AMA session on Reddit as fans threw some wild questions at the former UFC champ.
Although there were quite a few good ones, Johnson had to navigate through a handful of wacky questions too. One such comment that must have surely got the MMA legend cracking up had to do with a fantasy match-up with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.

An individual with a funny-sounding name of ‘RubberyGoober’ took the opportunity to ask Johnson if he would beat O’Neal in an MMA fight. For context, both athletes have a massive height difference; while online results say DJ stands at five feet three inches, the NBA legend, on the other hand, measures a staggering seven feet and one inch.
“Do you think you would win against prime Shaq?” The fan wrote.
One would surely wonder if ‘Mighty Mouse’ could make up for the height difference with his fighting skills. While some would believe so, Johnson himself was not too optimistic about it.

“god no lol” he answered to the original question.
A bunch of hilarious comments followed in the thread following DJ’s response. A couple of them pointed out his spectacular flying armbar win from a few years ago.

Someone pointed out that the NBA legend was himself a grappler. Taking that into account, it’s quite understandable why Johnson felt he’d have no chance against O’Neal.

The first time the duo faced each other, DJ suffered the first KO loss of his career as Moraes successfully defended his flyweight gold. Following that, Johnson bounced back, avenging his loss in August 2022 as he laid his claim on the title.
