Team USA defeated Team France in the realm of women’s basketball and secured the gold medals with just one point more than the French. It was indeed a moment that had every single American celebrating in style. But nothing could beat a dancing Kelsey Plum. Dana White celebrating Kelsey Plum's gold—Is UFC finally getting the respect it deserves in the Olympics?

Have an interesting take?

With the Paris Olympics proceeding with great finesse, the whole wide world is singing praise for the Olympians. But as MMA fans, don’t you think the sport should be featured at the Olympic Games? Well, if that happens, it might just result in a great loss for UFC.

Insider claims MMA in the Olympics is not something that the UFC CEO would want

Earlier in 2020, the former undefeated UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, expressed his desire to include mixed martial arts in the Olympic Games. The Dagestani coach even claimed that work was in progress in that direction. However, the former UFC heavyweight contender, Brendan Schaub, seems to believe that it wasn’t something that White would be interested in. And his explanation involved a much-desired matchup between Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones.

Schaub said, “So they just could get their own sponsors, [which is] where it gets dicey. This is one of the reasons I don’t think Dana and… the UFC doesn’t push for it is because think about it, Francis [Ngannou] would represent Africa so you could potentially have Francis versus Jon Jones on the Olympic platform… So the Olympics would make money. [However] Dana would make money you know if Jon and Francis [only] fought in the UFC.”

Nevertheless, White never backs down from lifting up his countrymates for their Olympic golds. How did you celebrate the women’s basketball team’s win? Let us know in the comments down below.
