Podcasts weren’t a major phenomenon in the late 2000s, but Joe Rogan changed the game. What began as a simple hobby for the 57-year-old has grown into a $250 million empire with The Joe Rogan Experience. For years, Rogan seemed untouchable, his show reigning as the undisputed king of podcasts. However, with the podcasting landscape evolving, it seems that the longtime UFC commentator now has a legitimate rival on his hands.
Just last week, Former NFL star Jason Kelce‘s wife, Kylie Kelce, made it to the Spotify charts even before she dropped the first episode of her podcast, ‘Not Gonna Lie’. With Rogan retaining his top spot, the former Super Bowl champion’s wife edged past the other podcasts and bagged the 2nd spot. However, now, things have changed for the worse for the JRE host.
Kylie Kelce dropped the first episode of her podcast, featuring 49-year-old actress Kaitlin Olsen. After just four days, Jason Kelce’s wife appears to have overtaken Joe Rogan. For the first time in a long time, the UFC commentator slipped down to the second spot with Kylie taking over the reins and is now the most listened-to show on the Spotify platform in the United States.

This is indeed a big achievement for Kylie Kelce. To go over and above Joe Rogan means only one thing, and that is, that her influence is really growing, and she is surely earning her reputation as one of the emerging voices in the podcasting world and receiving praise for her real, engaging storytelling. But what was the reason behind Jason Kelce’s wife’s decision to start a podcast? Well, she cleared the air on her very first episode.
Kelce weighs in on the decision to start a podcast amidst a stunning debut
As we already know, podcasting is the real deal for Joe Rogan, who’s not only making boatloads of money from his show but has also invited some of the most high-profile guests, including US President-elect Donald Trump. For Kylie Kelce, on the other hand, podcasts aren’t necessarily a big deal for her. However, she opened up on the reason behind her decision to start ‘Not Gonna Lie’, and as the name of the show suggests, she wanted to come clean about the many rumors, news, and speculations about herself and her family.

“I decided to do a podcast because, at the end of the day, I try to stay quiet and sort of do the Homer Simpson-roll-back-into-the-hedge and no one was allowing it,” said Kylie Kelce on her debut podcast episode. “There were still articles and people talking about our family. So, here’s the deal – if you’re gonna talk about our family [and] you’re gonna talk about me, you might as well hear it from me.”
Given that Kylie Kelce has just released one episode of her podcast, it’s still too early to determine if she can maintain the buzz around her show and stay above Joe Rogan in the charts. Meanwhile, let us know what you think about the 57-year-old finding a credible rival in the podcasting scene.
