Alexander Volkanovski will defend his title next month against the hyped and undefeated prospect Ilia Topuria at UFC 298 in Anaheim, California on February 17. Coming off a KO loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 294, the Australian is eager to bounce back strongly and a victory over ‘El Matador’, who is undefeated in his MMA career so far, will certainly help him wash away the bitter aftertaste of his head-kick knockout he suffered in his last fight in Abu Dhabi.
Days removed from his 6th title defense, Alexander ‘The Great’ joined NFL legend and seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady in an event in Sydney, Australia, where he threw a perfect pass to the former professional rugby player and revealed his love for and an unexpected connection to the UFC.

Tom Brady reveals surprise connection to the UFC
Considered the greatest football player of all time by many, Tom Brady retired last year after becoming the most successful football player in the world with his seven Super Bowl rings. At the event, he told Alexander Volkanovski about his connection with the UFC, revealing that the promotion’s matchmaker, Sean Shelby, who works closely with CEO Dana White was his cousin and used to take him to watch fights since he was a young boy.
“By the way, I think he’s [Volkanovski] unbelievable. In fact, I don’t know if you know this but my cousin has worked with Dana White. Do you know Sean Shelby? Sean’s my first cousin. So Sean used to take me to fights when I was this big,” he said.
The former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback also expressed his appreciation for the UFC champion, saying that he loved ‘Volk’ and used to watch his fights in their locker room along with his former teammates.
“So I’ve been watching UFC forever, and I love you and love everything you do. And you have no idea, in our locker room we all would sit there and watch all your fights,” he added. And as he opens as only a moderate betting forward, Volkanovski has vowed to come for the zero on Topuria’s record.

Alexander Volkanovski promises to humble Topuria
Ilia Topuria is supremely confident of victory against Volkanovski, despite the champion being undefeated in the UFC’s featherweight so far. Topuria has suggested that ‘Volk’ is getting old and should find another career, suggesting that cooking suited him. ‘Alexander The Great’, however, is looking forward to fighting ‘ El Matador’ at UFC 298 next month. The former rugby player has promised to snap the #3 ranked featherweight’s undefeated streak and to teach him a lesson in humility.

“I see he’s confident, he’s a cocky, confident young dude. Let’s see if he can really bring it ’cause I know I’m gonna, and I can’t wait to show him levels. I’ve seen a lot in my game, I still feel like I’m in my prime, and I get to show this young kid that there’s levels, and I am the king of this division and he ain’t taking nothing from me. I’m coming for that zero,” Volkanovski said. What are your predictions for their UFC 298 main event bout?
