The former New York Giants star drew an intriguing comparison between the face-off and a scene from the film ‘Troy’. He likened Jones to the fearless warrior Achilles, who fearlessly challenged the mighty Hector. Just like Achilles rode up to the gates and called out Hector, Jones displayed a similar sense of fearlessness as he locked eyes with Ngannou.
“Troy is my favorite movie. When Achilles rolled up to the gate and he was screaming for Hector to come down, there was no fear. (Achilles) rode up by himself to the gates and started screaming his name. I just think that that’s so powerful and that’s the same way Jon Jones looked at Francis Ngannou.”
Clark’s analogy highlights the immense confidence and self-belief that Jones possesses. Moreover, it is reminiscent of Achilles’ unwavering determination to face the toughest opponent in his world.
