On his highly popular podcast, Joe Rogan Experience, episode #1808, Rogan had fellow stand-up comedian Dan Soder on the deck. After asking Soder about his football beginnings in school, Rogan talked about the origin of football.

Rogan said, “They invented it to get people’s minds off of war. They gave people, like, a distraction.”

Soder suggested it ‘make sense’ and offered how it would’ve played out. “let’s do tiny trench war,’” and suggested how sport has made millionaires out of athletes.

Even earlier, Rogan had talked about how games came from war. During his conversation with the guest Tom Papa on JRE #1789, Rogan talked about how wars and games are co-related.

The former Fear Factor host said, “Well, sports are basically a proxy of war. Right? It’s kind of, it’s like a fake war.”.

Even Tom Papa agreed with Rogan and termed sports as a ‘replacement of war’. “It’s like when the Raiders are going to play Dolphins. It’s basically, Florida is going to war with Las Vegas,” Rogan said before offering football’s origin.
