UFC middleweight star Bo Nickal recently spoke about his aspiration to replicate an incident involving former NFL center Jason Kelce, but what exactly is he aiming to do? Kelce, who was in the limelight once again last week, made headlines when he smashed a college football fan’s phone after the fan made a homophobic remark about Kelce’s younger brother, Travis. Nickal expressed his interest in taking a similar approach as a way to handle persistent fans and paparazzi in a more assertive manner.
Nickal, who is preparing to face Paul Craig at the highly anticipated UFC 309 event, took a break from training to discuss the viral moment on his podcast, “Nickal and Dimes,” on YouTube. While chatting with his co-host about current events in sports, the American Top Team star couldn’t help but express his desire to recreate the scene in order to escape annoying situations.
“I want to do that so bad,” Nickal said. “The only thing I’d do differently is, after I smash it, I’d stomp on it.” However, Nickal added a twist, saying that he’d make up for the damage: “I’m going to pull out 500 bucks, throw it in that guy’s face, and just say, ‘Boom! You can’t press charges. Go buy a new phone.”

Well, Nickal might not be aware but MMA’s ‘Notorious’ one, Conor McGregor already did the exact same thing a few years ago. In 2019, he faced charges of smashing a fan’s phone. Allegedly, he stomped on it too. They were dropped after the civil lawsuit was settled. This was a rather serious incident as McGregor was arrested over the same in March 2019. But Jason Kelce was quick to avoid any such hurdles.
Just a few days after the incident, Jason Kelce reflected on his confrontation on the ESPN ‘Monday Night Countdown’ show, where he expressed regret about how the situation escalated. He admitted that it had drifted beyond his control but claimed that he would handle things more calmly in the future if a similar situation arose. He stated, “Even though I fell short this week.” While Jason Kelce expressed remorse for his actions in Pennsylvania, his brother, Travis Kelce, has remained steadfast in supporting him throughout the ordeal.
