Israel Adesanya is undoubtedly one of the most entertaining and fan-favorite UFC fighters at the moment. His loss against Alex Pereira at UFC 281 saddened a lot of hearts. And the former American football safety, Ryan Clark, had a similar reaction seeing Adesanya lose the title.

In a section of the most recent edition of “DC & RC” on ESPN MMA, Ryan Clark discussed the profound effect that Adesanya’s defeat had on him personally.

During the conversation with Daniel Cormier on the podcast, Ryan Clark reflected on how he reacted when Adesanya got knocked out. “So I am sitting on the edge of the bed. She’s (Clark’s wife) sick, she’s trying to go to sleep. You know I don’t even cuss bro. When Izzy got tko’d. I said the “F” word. The F word DC.”

And Ryan Clark is a professed Christian, so his revelation of saying the “F” word did shock Daniel Cormier. To which he said, “No you didn’t. Shut up! You did?”. And Clark continued, “I was that hurt. I woke her up, bro. Almost lost my, almost I lost my religion and almost my marriage at the end of the fight. I woke my sick wife up in her full-size bed.”

Daniel Cormier says “The Pivot” is cursed

During the same podcast, Daniel Cormier poked fun at Ryan Clark’s podcast “The Pivot”, co-hosted by NFL personalities, Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor. Talking about Israel Adesanya’s winning streak prior to UFC 281, Cormier jokingly said, “He was winning”. He further added, “It goes to the Pivot. Because the reality is, The Pivot is one of the hottest shows right now. It is elevating people. And the only reason people want to go on this show is because of the ability to elevate them. But on the back end, you go on The Pivot, you get beat.”

Daniel Cormier also compared going to “The Pivot” with “picking out a suit for your own funeral.” Cormier certainly didn’t hold back in the portion when he was yanking Clark’s leg.

Israel Adesanya losing to Alex Pereira indeed was a very upsetting moment, and it was no different for Ryan Clark. Although he did give the credit where it’s due. Clark admitted that Pereira does possess the knockout power in his left hook and how impressive his victory was.
