Football is one of the most demanding sports in the world, requiring a high level of physical and mental toughness. The game has always been known for its physicality and aggression, and players often push their bodies to the limits in order to win. However, this level of physicality can come at a cost; as players often suffer from serious injuries that can have lasting effects on their health and well-being.
Recently, retired NFL player Derek Wolfe appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast and revealed some shocking details about his injuries.

Derek Wolfe talks about paralysis & seizures to Joe Rogan
Wolfe, who played for the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos, discussed with Joe Rogan how he was once paralyzed for three hours after a collision on the field. Despite this, he was back playing just two weeks later. The 33-year-old played as the end of the line on the right side, and it was during a game that a fullback collided with him, causing him to lose feeling in his body for a couple of hours.

However, his injuries did not end there. After 12 weeks, Wolfe suffered a major seizure that put him into a coma for 36 hours. “12 weeks later, I had a seizure, like a bad seizure, that almost killed me. I was in a coma for 36 hours”, Wolfe revealed to Rogan.
The JRE guest also mentioned the reason for his serious seizure attack. He said, “Because I wasn’t getting fresh blood to my brain; because there was a bruise on that spinal right at the base of my brain stem and it never healed. I didn’t let it heal two weeks isn’t going to heal a bruise, you know. It never healed, so I wasn’t getting fresh blood in my brain, so I was running on just like pure adrenaline.”
According to the 33-year-old, it was because he had never healed from his first injury that happened 12 weeks prior. What is even more concerning is that he claimed that his team doctors were ignorant of his injuries. “That’s when I realized, man, I was like they don’t care about us”, Wolfe said.
