UFC head honcho Dana White took to his social media to share some words of motivation for former BYU Cougars wide receiver Puka Nacua after the Los Angeles Rams ended the season without the NFL trophy. The Los Angeles Rams concluded the regular season with a 10-7 record, ranking second in the NFC West. They qualified for the playoffs and defeated the Minnesota Vikings 27-9 in the Wild Card game. However, their postseason journey came to an end in the Divisional Round, when they were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles 28-22.

However, despite the team’s performance, Puka Nacua has been earning praise from fans and critics alike for being one of the most crucial players on the team. In fact, he made certain to leave some stunning highlights behind as the season ends. One such moment was when Quarterback Matthew Stafford made a fantastic no-look pass to Puka Nacua. The connection helped set the tone for the Rams’ offense early on, with Nacua catching two passes for 20 yards on the drive. In 11 games in 2024 and the first few weeks of 2025, Puka Nacua caught 79 passes for 990 yards and secured four touchdowns. As a result, Dana White wanted the NFL wide receiver to keep his head held high. He wrote in his Instagram story, “Congrats on another amazing season @pukaizded. We are all so happy for you!”

For the unaware, despite the fact that they are not related, Puka Nacua refers to UFC president Dana White as “Uncle Dana” since they have been close since Nacua was a young football player. Before relocating to Utah, Nacua lived with his family in Las Vegas and met White’s son, Dana White Jr. Since they played youth football together, White and Nacua got so close that White practically became a member of the family.

During an interview with Julian Edelman on ‘Games With Names,’ the head honcho was all praise for the wide receiver as he said, “To see Puka doing what he’s doing now, it could not happen to a better human being. When you meet this kid, you will love this kid. He’s such a good kid.” So, it looks like Puka Nacua is making his Uncle Dana White proud as evident from his story. But with football being so close to home now, will he be investing in a football team anytime soon?

Dana White reveals plans for NFL ownership

Like the majority of wealthy men worldwide, Dana White originally aspired to own an NFL club. Previously, the head honcho had said he would have preferred to acquire a stake in an NFL team, but that is no longer the case. Dan Katz questioned the UFC CEO if he would ever want to own an NFL team during his unexpected appearance on the Pardon My Take podcast.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Dana White's shift away from NFL ownership a smart move, or is he missing out?

Have an interesting take?

While many expected him to claim that he would be investing sometime soon, the answer actually left many surprised instead. Dana White said, “Nah. I’m not really into that. I like finding sports that nobody else believes in.” This completely goes against the statements that he made during an interview with TMZ back in 2019. Back then, the UFC CEO stated that he would indeed like to own an NFL franchise.

He said, “I’m very interested. Yes, I predict that the Fertitta brothers will own an NFL team, and me and the Fertitta brothers will be in business again someday.” Well, it looks like there is still some time before Dana White makes a move to the NFL. But for now, his main goal would be to have more successful UFC events in 2025, just like the spectacle that was UFC 311. What do you think? Will the UFC break some major records in 2025?
