On Tuesday, Rodgers posted a reel on his Instagram story featuring Dr. Hotez’s previous appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) podcast, accompanied by a caption that read, “@robertfkennedyjr would mop this b*m.” Although the story has since been deleted, it was captured and shared in a Sports Illustrated article, prompting a response from Dr. Hotez.

Dr. Hotez expressed his disappointment on Twitter, mentioning that he was disappointed by the cheap shot directed at him. He emphasized the severity of the situation in 2021, highlighting the high number of daily American deaths, with over 80% of them being among the unvaccinated population.

He also criticized Aaron Rodgers for his public anti-vaccine stance while emphasizing the effectiveness of vaccines, which were reportedly 90% protective against death and serious illness.

Dr. Hotez further elaborated, emphasizing the importance of speaking out in an effort to save lives during the challenging times of the delta variant.

Some of the contributors to the debate pool have been influential figures like Elon Musk and Andrew Tate. Andrew Tate offered to contribute an additional 500k to the debate. Tate also commented that those who are now anti-vax were initially fearful of Covid-19 and even ended up getting vaccinated. Elon Musk believes that Dr.Hotez is avoiding a public debate because he knows he is incorrect.

In response to Rogan’s offer, Dr. Hotez criticized the proposal, questioning its seriousness and likening it to something thrown for hunting buddies. He suggested a $50 million endowment from Rogan, Spotify, and RFK Jr, not for himself but to support the production of affordable patent-free vaccines for underprivileged populations worldwide.
