Seán Sheehan posted a clip on Twitter in which Joe Rogan states the changes he wants in the current judging system for the UFC. The clip is from his podcast with Bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling. In the clip, Rogan says, “You would give points for moments in fights where someone either did damage, or someone had control. But control is not worth as much as damage.”

He added, “Just because someone like has you down in maybe like half guard, and you’re just like clinching and controlling. You could survive that for a couple of minutes sometimes, and nothing happens. So that even though the person is in control of you, it’s not that big of a deal.”

Rogan then explained how damage plays a bigger role in scoring points. He pointed out that damage that leads to a fighter wobbling or is significant enough should be worth more points.

Unfortunately for Rogan, Sheehan pointed out that these changes had already occurred in 2016. He also disagreed with Rogan’s statement of the 10-point system not being comprehensive enough. Sheehan pointed out that the changes have retrofitted the TPMS to suit MMA and that, according to him, it is “extremely comprehensive.”
