In the latest episode of the JRE, Rogan hosted stand-up comedian and actor Yannis Pappas. The pair discussed cryptocurrency and the current turmoil happening at the crypto exchange firm FTX.
What Joe Rogan said about SBF
Leading cryptocurrency exchange firm FTX collapsed in early November 2022. Its founder and former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) had also filed for bankruptcy. In episode #1899, Joe Rogan discussed the issue with Yannis Pappas and gave his thoughts.
“Well, here’s the thing. If you’re running any kind of currency operation and you’re involved in a polyamorous relationship with seven other people, I gotta think you’re whacky,” said Rogan. These comments followed reports that stated a polyamorous group had involvement in the crashing of FTX. Bankman-Fried was allegedly a part of this group.
SBF is currently facing criminal investigations in the Bahamas, as per reports. Touching on that subject, Rogan said, “Talk about a lot of fun in the Bahamas. With billions of dollars of other people’s money.”

Rogan also touched upon the FTX using tokens for shares and how they moved around money between its sister firms. Several of these factors contributed to the eventual crash of the crypto giant.
Joe Rogan’s predictions for Bitcoin
Regardless of the current FTX fiasco, Rogan once had a positive opinion about cryptocurrency. Rogan discussed the topic with UFC star Khalil Rountree Jr. on JRE MMA Show #64. Speaking of Bitcoin, he said, “I think of Bitcoin the same way I think about the early internet. I think they didn’t see it coming, and now it’s a viable form of currency. You can actually buy things with it.”

The 55-year-old also explained how he expected the government to react to cryptocurrencies. He mentioned how the Obama administration tried to censor the internet but backed off when the attempts backfired. The former ‘Fear Factor’ host believed something similar might happen to cryptocurrency, as well.
“I feel that there’s gonna come a time when some government, whether it’s the United States or another government, might try it first. They’re gonna try to implement… a centralized digital currency that they can control,” Rogan predicted.
