Did Alex Pereira just pull a Khamzat Chimaev on his fans with this crypto scam?

The tables appear to be turning for the MMA co͏mmunity. After Khamzat Chim͏aev, it’s now Alex Pereira who͏ ͏has endorsed a new cryptocurrency project. The lig͏ht-he͏avyw͏eigh͏t champion i͏s h͏aving a dream run with his career. After defendi͏ng t͏he UFC 205 lbs title tw͏ice in a row, ͏Pereir͏a͏ is the n͏ew͏ face of the͏ ͏pro͏mo͏tion for MMA͏ f͏ans. Howeve͏r, it appears that ͏’Poatan’ may have rubbed fans the wrong way with his latest move.

The double-weight champion recently took to his Instagram handle to endorse a company that specializes in blockchain technology. ‘Poatan’ has partnered with BlockDAG Network to become its Brand Ambassador. Alex Pereira added a short video where he said, “Number 1’s Only Partner With Number 1’s BlockDAG team let’s fly.”

He captioned the post with, “I am happy to announce my new partnership with @blockdagnetwork – the biggest Crypto Blockchain project in the world!” So what is this BlockDAG? Is it any similar to Khamzat Chimaev’s ‘SMASH’ meme coin that ended up costing his fans money? Well, BlockDAG is not exactly similar to what Chimaev’s fiasco was.

The entity deals in multiple products ranging from premium mining build to mining valid coins to provide a wallet for the miners to have their own BlockDAG coin which is specific to their network. So is it safe? Well, basically, the entity’s core business revolves around blockchain technology rather than an online finance product such as a meme coin or NFT. Alex Pereira might have endorsed the product without going deep into the blockchain facility but this appears to have worked in the wrong direction for the champion as the MMA community is not keen to entertain another risky investment.

MMA community calls out Alex Pereira for endorsing ‘BlockDAG’ immediately after Khamzat Chimaev fiasco

As soon as Alex Pereira dropped the partnership video on his socials, the MMA community couldn’t believe their eyes. Just days ago, Khamzat Chimaev had to come forward to apologize to the entire community due to the fact that he unknowingly endorsed a meme coin known as ‘SMASH’, which caused a significant financial loss to the people who had invested. Looking at Pereira’s post, a social media user advised to let it slide,” Lets pretend we have not seen this one.”

The fiasco became such a shame for Team Chimaev that his manager had to come forward to take the blame on himself. Khamzat Chimaev’s manager Majdi Shammas clarified that it was not the UFC star’s fault that they endorsed the coin as he was the prime suspect for it. “I want to comment the recent reports on the SMASH meme coin. I was approached by a group claiming to be fans of my client Khamzat Chimaev. They wanted to record a short video promoting their launch. So I agreed to that, nothing more nothing less,” wrote Shammas on X. A fan reminded Pereira about the fate of Chimaev, “Alex kamzat already got tricked don’t fall for it.”

Further down the rabbit hole of the comment section, a fan has called to derail the hype train as they fear their favorite star has been consumed by scams, “This is it boys, this is where the hype train stops.”

After Chimaev’s manager issued the statement ‘Borz’ uploaded a video where he answered all the questions about the scam. Well, the Chechen has to try quite a bit to save his reputation after the backlash. Who revealed it was a scam, you ask? It was the popular blockchain investigator ZachXBT. Following the events, a fan wrote that, Alex Pereira would be going down the same road as Chiamev, “Bro is going down the same path khamzat did”

Furthermore, another fan came up with a snarky comment, “Let’s pretend he needs to pay for three nieces with illness.” At the end, a curious fan inquired about the amount of money these millionaire UFC stars are making from these crypto deals. “How much do they pay fighters for this? Because no way Alex needs money.”

The MMA community was not amused to witness their star endorse a blockchain immediately after the Chimaev fiasco. However, one might note that Alex Pereira has not endorsed any other unstable coin but a technology that works in the Blockchain sector. Is the entity safe? Well, the answer to the question remains in the hands of the users. What’s your take on the fiasco? State your thoughts in the comments below.
