After claiming an impressive win in a bloody affair at UFC 281, Dustin Poirier recently found himself in agonizing pain. The American fighter, who prevailed over Michael Chandler in their back-and-forth fight at Madison Square Garden, became the victim of staph infection. Therefore, prolonging his hospital stay. However, one fan traced back the worrisome condition to his last opponent, which subsequently evoked a harsh response from ‘Diamond’.

Notably, the lightweight fighter put on a series of Instagram posts that revealed his recent struggles with a staph infection. Similarly, the 33-year-old penned troublesome messages for the fans.
Afterward, Brett Okamoto, the ESPN correspondent, broke the news that the #2 ranked lightweight fighter was not responding to antibiotics. In addition, the reporter mentioned Poirier was subject to blood work that hoped to provide some answers.
However, one user suggested that the Louisiana-born fighter should have only shaken the former Bellator fighter’s hand.

Earlier, the American Top Team product had admitted he couldn’t walk due to his swollen left leg.
However, Poirier will target a shot at the gold after failing twice in his endeavors to claim the coveted lightweight crown. Notably, the first of his title shots came against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242, where he tapped out in the second round.
His last title fight came against Charles Oliveira at UFC 269 and he lost the fight similarly, via rear-naked choke submission.
