UFC 303 comprised a card that not only glued the fight fans to their seats, but also created a ruckus about it being cursed. Alex Pereira defeated Jiri Prochazka via a knockout in the second round and extracted reactions from the entire world of MMA. However, accusations of him performing shamanic rituals kept revolving around the undisputed UFC light heavyweight champion. Even his former opponent and rival, Israel Adesanya, was one of many who commented on the Brazilian’s alleged engagement in shamanic rituals.
As the man with the hands of stone struck the ‘Czech Samurai’ with a strong fist at the very end of the first round and sent Prochazka toppling down, Adesanya simply couldn’t keep it in and blurted out his opinion on the card. Let’s see what ‘The Last Stylebender’ had to say.

As the action at the UFC 303 main event continued, the entire MMA fanbase was left with gaping eyes as ‘Poatan’ kept the pressure on maximum against Prochazka. Needless to say, Pereira’s performance was one of the best at the event. However, talks about him being involved in dark rituals didn’t escape the minds of fight fans. Even Adesanya had to talk about it as he watched the fight with his friends.
At the end of the first round, the Brazilian sent forth a strong fist that put Prochazka down. However, the Czech fighter wasn’t ready to go down just yet. Soon after the second round commenced, ‘Poatan’ connected a kick to Prochazka’s head. Following a momentary pause as the Czech fighter fell to the ground, Pereira then unleashed a barrage of hammer fists. Herb Dean was left with no choice but to conclude the match. Without a doubt, this garnered a reaction from Adesanya, who believed that the card was cursed indeed. He said, “Damn! That’s bad. This card was cursed.”
But then, the New Zealander and his friends decide to add some fun to it. Adesanya, pointing at David, claimed, “Your juju didn’t work.” Thereafter, the scene shifted to David trying to perform a shamanic ritual, chanting ‘Chama’ and doing Pereira’s bow and arrow move. But when Pereira defeated Prochazka, David said that he channeled the wrong spirit. This brought out a wave of laughter from the team. Adesanya, still in a laughing fit, remarked, “You channeled the wrong spirit you did.”

In Portuguese, ‘Chama’ literally means ‘flame’ or ‘Inspiration’. But Pereira uses the word to depict what means ‘let’s go’ or ‘come on’, in English. Now with his successful title defense, Pereira might return to fight Magomed Ankalaev pretty soon. But will the curse continue? Only time can tell.
