With UFC 305 approaching this weekend, Israel Adesanya has reignited the racial rivalry between the fighters, which has been ongoing for over a year now. Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis started the real African debate last year when they were initially scheduled to clash at UFC 293 but an injury on the part of Du Plessis pulled him out of the picture and Sean Strickland had to step in. ‘StillKnocks’ has always stated that he is the real African champ because he is the only active champion who trains and lives in the African continent and this statement appears to have irked Adesanya.
The former middleweight champ has lived most of his life in New Zealand, but he traces his roots back to Nigeria. Adesanya has responded to Du Plessis by stating that until other champions who trace their roots back to Africa are present, Du Plessis will never be the first champion of the continent. Interestingly, in his recent escapade with TMZ Sports, Adesanya has reignited the rivalry by directly attacking the Du Plessis family.

“Abdul Razak [Alhassan] said it three weeks ago before his fight. Dricus is a b** for what he’s saying… People like Razak and myself who were forced to flee our own country because of a better opportunity, [Du Plessis] will never understand that because he lives behind the f**** gates of his privileged life in South Africa.” said Adesanya.
He further added, “Without Francis [Ngannou] being champion, without myself being champion, without Kamaru [Usman] being champion, he would have never been champion. We paved the way for him and then he comes out there and tries to take it all for himself.” Well, Adesanya’s comments never really worked in his favour as fans called him out for his hypocritical behaviour.
Israel Adesanya’s “Privileged Life” jibe at Dricus Du Plessis called out by MMA community
Israel Adesanya might showcase himself as a fighter who has undergone immense hardship in his childhood but the truth is different from what he is trying to portray. Both of Adesanya’s parents were working. His father is an accountant while his mother was a nurse. It must be noted that back in Nigeria, Adesanya had servants, who helped him in his day-to-day tasks. “Bro Izzy legit grew up with servants Tf he talking about”

Adesanya’s comment doesn’t make sense considering the fact that he spent most of his childhood away from Africa. On the other hand, Dricus Du Plessis’s entire childhood was spent in the streets of South Africa. Well, it must be noted that ‘StillKnocks’ also never had any trouble growing up as well because his father was upper-middle-class. A social media fan has highlighted the wealth disparity between the fighters, “Bruh, your family is richer than his. You never struggled either.”
Furthermore, another fan highlighted the fact that Israel Adesanya had servants when he was a kid. It must be noted that this statement by the fan is in fact true as ‘Stylebender’ himself admitted that he had people bathing him until he was 8, “Izzy didn’t bathe himself until he was 12 btw servants did it for him. His family was connected to the military junta in Nigeria and left when it collapsed. Nothing but respect for him as a fighter but come on man his ego is something else. Dricus isn’t Francis but neither is Izzy”
“Didn’t Izzy say he came from an affluent family.” A social media user called out Adesanya for being from a very well-to-do family. How true is this statement? Well, in his Adesanya’s own words, “To be honest, there was time. Ok, there was a time because I was quite well off. My family was quite well off in Nigeria.”

Furthermore, a fan gave a reality check to Israel Adesanya, “cry harder he’s the first african champ to train and live there.” Last but not the least, an MMA fan stated that he is rooting for Du Plessis in their clash, “Andddd just like that I’m rooting for Dricus.”
UFC 305 is set to take place in Perth, Australia. Du Plessis is venturing deep into the enemy territory to defend his 185 lbs of gold. Will he succeed against Israel Adesanya? State your thoughts in the comments below.
