It is always a difficult journey to make a comeback in a sport like MMA. Miesha Tate understands this and is also aware of the people that are doubting her. The former bantamweight champion has returned after five years. During these five years, Tate had two children and was content with being a retired UFC fighter. However, she is back with a bang and has recently called out Amanda Nunes.

Tate has her eyes on the UFC bantamweight title. She lost the title years ago to Nunes. And Nunes still occupies the prestigious title and hence, Tate wants to get it back.

In an interview, Tates spoke about Nunes. She said, “The most exciting thing that seems to be the thing that everyone wants to talk about is Amanda versus Valentina [Shevchenko] again. I’m not going to lie, I’d like to see that again, too, but that’s kind of almost depressing that your biggest competition is outside your division.”

She continued, “So I want to be the one to say [to Amanda Nunes] your biggest competition is right here at 135. Fight me.”

Nunes has successfully destroyed every fighter she has faced since she won the title. She will face Julianna Pena at UFC 269. However, Nunes seems to be the dominant fighter and many believe that she will emerge as the winner.

There aren’t many fighters right now vying for the number 1 contender position. Hence, Tate plans to mesmerize everyone with her upcoming fight; she aims to get the title shot against Amanda Nunes soon.
