The standout feature that the UFC has over most sports organizations is the accessibility that fans have to meet or interact with their favorite fighters. Many moments like these have generated a wholesome reaction from the brutal and violent fight-loving MMA community. From Israel Adesanya‘s heartwarming message to a young fan to Tom Aspinall’s recent thank-you message to his fans, the UFC is filled with moments that one might say are more valuable than competition.

One of the greatest athletes the world has ever seen—former UFC light heavyweight champion, and now UFC Heavyweight Champion, Jon Jones—is widely discussed for his various kinds of fan encounters. From putting fans to sleep in training to even teaching them new skills, Jon Jones has a collection of these moments. In one such moment, which is just a comment on a UFC fan’s Instagram post, Jon Jones has successfully won our hearts by responding to the fan’s adorable call-out.

In the video, his fan Tim calls Jones out and shows off his punching power. The sheer happiness in the video is enough to melt any heart and it seems Jon ‘Bones’ Jones isn’t any different. Jon Jones’ path towards redemption

Jon Jones has stood as a dark figure in the UFC for a big part of his career spanning 16 years. His numerous encounters with the law have put a stain on the character of a man who is considered the greatest of all time in MMA by a large part of the community. It’s fair to say, across his unbeatable performances and never leaving a rivalry open after he leaves the Octagon, Jones quite often found himself as his biggest enemy.

Here’s the but, since there’s always a but—Jon Jones has moved many miles ahead in his life since then, he has now held titles and defenses in two divisions. He now has a much better mental approach to his fights and, more importantly, in his life. Constantly quoting Christ as his lord and savior, Jones has developed a physical and mental aura of positivity around himself. He sees himself for what he truly is—a man who has love and warmth for his fans.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Jon Jones the greatest UFC fighter ever, or do his controversies taint his legacy?

Have an interesting take?

The truth about Jon Jones is that he has already established himself in the sport in a way that is arguably tough to replicate. His light heavyweight run, both before and after the title has established him as probably one of the most intelligent fighters in the Octagon, and arguably the greatest of all time. Now Jones has moved into the final stages of his fighting career, he is now recognized for what he saw in himself, and he wants nothing less than the biggest draw in the UFC.

One way he can truly get the nod from fans is to accept the fight with Tom Aspinall and unify the undisputed and interim titles. But will he do that? Not unless there’s a fat pay check waiting for him at the end of the bout. So, we, as fans can only wait and see what happens. What do you think? Will that fight happen this year?
