Matt Taibbi is an American journalist, author, and podcaster. In the opening minutes of the podcast, they discussed Twitter CEO Elon Musk. Joe Rogan highlighted how people had created a negative narrative around the Tesla founder. Soon, the conversation switched to Musk bringing the former POTUS Donald Trump back on Twitter.

Joe Rogan about Trump’s return to Twitter

Joe Rogan was keen on defending Elon Musk’s decision to bring Trump back on Twitter. “The Taliban is there! You don’t have a problem with the Taliban? The Taliban just bought blue checkmarks”. The former Fear Factor host was of the belief that if an organization like the Taliban is allowed to get verified on Twitter, someone like Trump should also be allowed.

Rogan also mentioned how Trump’s presence on Twitter will allow other users to call him out on everything objectionable, he says. “He is a ridiculous person, but don’t you think it’s better that his tweets get out there and a bunch of people get to attack him in the tweets?” said Rogan.

The UFC commentator did not defend Trump’s views and opinions, but believed, “If you really don’t like Trump, you want him on Twitter. You want that guy to have people talking against what he is saying”.

Why was Trump banned in the first place?

Trump was banned from Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other major social media websites at the beginning of 2021. This occurred after his followers invaded the Capitol Building in 2021. His exclusion from social media was justified by the concern that his continuous use of these platforms may inflame the crowd to indulge in violence. At that time, Twitter confirmed that Trump’s ban would be permanent.
