Nate Diaz has been one of the most popular UFC fighters. The UFC veteran last fought Leon Edwards at UFC 263 in June. However, there is still no update about his return to the octagon. As Diaz’s next bout will be his final fight on his UFC deal, he might be picky about which fighter he wants to face next.
Khamzat Chimaev, after his victory at UFC 267, wants to face the legendary Diaz. However, many fans are not happy with this possible matchup.
Diaz is an experienced fighter and has fought the top fighters within the division. Chimaev, on the other hand, has never fought anyone from the top ten.

Dana White is enthusiastic about making the Chimaev-Diaz bout a reality if Diaz agrees to it. But it seems that the Stockton fighter has his eyes on Kamaru Usman.
Dana White speaks about Nate Diaz and his last fight
It is no surprise that Diaz wants to fight Kamaru Usman in his last fight. However, White has a different perspective. He feels Diaz should not go against Usman and instead face Chimaev.
In an interview with BT Sport, White said, “This guy’s [Chimaev] got four fights. Nate Diaz has been here for years. Nate Diaz was just asking for an Usman fight. That would be feeding Nate Diaz to the wolves.”
Speaking about Diaz and Chimaev, he further said, “Khamzat Chimaev looks incredible, but he’s never fought anybody inside the top ten. The last guy he fought was number 11. And he’s never fought anybody in the top five…. What he’s done in a short amount of time and how popular he’s become, but if you wanted a fight with Kamaru Usman, you shouldn’t be worried about Khamzat Chimaev.”

White seems right in his reasoning. However, Nate Diaz appears to want a big fight before his contract finishes. A bout between Diaz and Chimaev would be very exciting for the audience, but so would a bout between Diaz and Usman.
