Belal Muhammad is currently coming off arguably one of the biggest wins in his career. The fighter recently took on ‘The Wonderboy’, Stephen Thompson, at UFC Vegas 45. Muhammad performed admirably in that fight and defeated Thompson via a unanimous decision.
After his win, Muhammad stands fifth in the UFC’s Welterweight rankings. Whereas, before his win, Belal stood tenth in the division.
Ever since his win over Thompson, Muhammad has been keeping himself very active in the media and has been promoting himself as a title contender. Recently, in an interview with TMZSports, Belal Muhammad made a case on why he should fight for the title next and conveyed it to the UFC president, Dana White.

Belal said,” Dana, I know you’re watching this. You got four weeks off to think about this. When you really think about it like there’s not a lot of guys out here that are promoting themselves like me. I’m a guy that knows how to talk, I’m a guy who knows how to fight. I’m a guy that can fight the best of the best, be with the best of best, and talk with the best of the best. So, I’m that guy that has it all.”
He then went on to take a shot at Leon Edwards, who is said to be next in line for the title shot. Muhammad said,” Like, you guys are trying to push on at the wrong guys. Leon hasn’t said anything witty or cool in the last like 10 years. Dude doesn’t say, whenever he opens his mouth there’s something stupid comes out. So like I’m the guy that you need to start pushing.”

What’s next for Belal Muhammad?
Realistically, there are very low chances that Dana White is going to be sold by Muhammad’s sales pitch on why he should be next for a title shot. Jorge Masvidal is very likely going to be the next opponent for Belal Muhammad. ‘Gamebred‘ is currently ranked only one spot below Belal and was set to fight against Edwards this year.

As he couldn’t make it, his rankings fell in the division. A fight against Masvidal would be very likely since his recovery will take some time, and Muhammed fought very recently. Meanwhile, Colby Covington could also be next to fight Muhammad.

Belal Muhammad has been taking many shots at Colby and clearly dislikes him. If the beef accelerates, a welterweight bout between the two could sell numbers for the UFC.
