Jorge Masvidal recently unloaded on Conor McGregor after he claimed to be the real BMF following Justin Gaethje‘s win at UFC 291. ‘Gamebred’ warned him and even brought his USADA woes into the mix. However, ‘The Notorious’ did not hold back and sent a response to the former UFC fighter.
Conor McGregor shared a series of posts following the wrap-up of UFC 291. He took jibes at Jorge Masvidal’s teammate Dustin Poirier and the new BMF champion, Justin Gaethje. ‘The Notorious’ claims to be the real BMF champion while being away from the Octagon for over two years now. This did not sit well with ‘Gamebred’ and he rained down on him, asking him to take a drug test before talking badly about other fighters. But McGregor didn’t spare him for those comments.

The former UFC double champion didn’t hold back on laying the verbal smackdown on ‘Gamebred’. Just when Masvidal thought McGregor was scared to take his name, the Irishman gave him a brutal reminder via a story on Instagram. He took a jibe at the former welterweight’s UFC career by claiming that his BMF title was the only thing he had earned as a fighter.
Moreover, instead of keeping the BMF title, Conor McGregor said that Masvidal gave it up just to get his teammate, Dustin Poirier, knocked out. The former double champion said, “You gave up the only thing you had worthy of a fight you jacka** and got your pal head kick ko’d in the process.” Although Masvidal took a dig at McGregor’s USADA situation, there is a chance that he might return by the end of the year.
Is ‘The Notorious’ set to return in 2023?
There are a lot of rumors and speculations surrounding Conor McGregor’s return to the UFC. While some fans believe he might be done fighting, others are hoping to see him back inside the Octagon. However, it is still unknown as to whom he will fight. The Irishman already has a planned fight against his TUF opposition coach Michael Chandler. But in light of his recent interest in fighting for the BMF title, things still remain uncertain. Moreover, McGregor added a considerable amount of muscle since his last fight, and this adds to the uncertainty around the weight class of his fight.
The UFC has already scheduled two major PPVs for October and November. The PPVs will have the UFC lightweight and heavyweight titles on the line. Having said that, UFC President Dana White might bring Conor McGregor back into the main event picture to round off the year on a positive note.
