Khamzat Chimaev has taken the world by storm after his recent performance against Li Jingliang last month. Many consider the Swedish fighter to be a future UFC welterweight champion. Chimaev has had more wins than strikes absorbed in his entire career at the UFC. As of November 2021, he stands 11th in the UFC welterweight rankings.

Ever since his win at UFC 267, Chimaev has been calling out everyone he can to take him on in the octagon. In fact, he didn’t even wait for his bout to get over as he asked Dana White for an opponent while manhandling ‘The Leech’. A few names he’s called out are Nate Diaz, Colby Covington, and Daniel Cormier.

Among everyone he’s called out, Chimaev has been pushing to fight Nate Diaz the most. He was the first fighter he called out after his recent win and still continues to slam him on Twitter. ‘Borz’ recently called Diaz a “fake gangster“, and said, “i’m here to kill everyone i’m the king here i’m a gangster here.

Diaz doesn’t feel Chimaev is on his level yet and isn’t even considering a possible fight with the Swedish fighter. However, another fighter from California slammed Chimaev for his words on Nate Diaz.

Nicholas (Nick) Maximov, from the Nate Diaz Academy, took to his Twitter to call out “Borz” for a fight.

Maximov (7-0) is currently unbeaten in his MMA career and is also signed to the UFC. A fight against Khamzat Chimaev, even though very unlikely, could be the biggest fight of his career. However, it doesn’t seem likely as the UFC will not sanction it.

Will we ever see Nate Diaz fight Khamzat Chimaev?

Nate Diaz shut down the idea of facing Chimaev the first time he was ever asked to fight him. This is because he wants to fight a fighter in the upper echelon of the division and secure a huge payday.

While Chimaev could provide the latter, he isn’t yet part of the upper echelon at welterweight yet. Hence, it appears as though Diaz will bide his time until Conor McGregor heals.
