Israel Adesanya defeated Marvin Vettori to defend his UFC title for the third time. ‘Stylebender’ comfortably outclassed his opponent and proved why he is considered one of the best fighters of this era. With Adesanya being so dominant in the middleweight division, there aren’t many opponents left for the champion to face.
Therefore, during the post-match interview, when Adesanya was asked about what’s next for him, he called out an old opponent of his.
He said, “Well, you know the old mozzie, my arch-nemesis, what’s his name, Whittaker. Bobby Knuckles. I knock him out twice… I don’t know what the f**ks gonna happen with this covid. But we gotta run that back in Auckland. We need to run that back in my territory this time.”

While Adesanya did say that he would fight Whittaker, the champion clarified that he would be the one calling the shots. He concluded, “I’ll tell you when it is. You don get to decide; I get to decide. Coz you know why? Because I’m the motherfu**ing king, bit*h.”
‘Bobby Knuckles’ is currently the No.1 ranked fighter in the middleweight division. Therefore, a fight between him and Adesanya was always on the card. And now after this call out, it seems like the fight will happen much sooner than expected.
The history between Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker
Adesanya and Whittaker first faced each other at the UFC 243 event back in October 2019. Since then, the two fighters have called each other out on various occasions. That fight between Adesanya and Whittaker was for the title and ended in just 2 rounds. ‘Stylebender’ won that fight convincingly by a second-round KO.
