

Joe Rogan stupefied the world when he declared that he was moving to Texas back in 2020, after spending two decades in LA. The 55-year-old podcaster moved into a $14.4 million dollar mansion with his family. However, his multimillion-dollar deal with Spotify raised a boatload of questions about the shift.
In the recent episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, Rogan invited the retired Navy SEAL and fellow podcaster, Jack Carr. Therein, the UFC color commentator revealed insights on how he managed the attacks from Spotify while moving to Texas after a couple of decades in Los Angeles. He revealed that he was indeed a risk-taker. Furthermore, he stated that it was one of the giant requirements for success. One simply can’t play it safe.

How did Joe Rogan tackle the questions from Spotify while moving to Texas?
In episode #1986 of the JRE, Rogan went back and talked about the time when he decided to move to Austin amidst the ginormous deal with Spotify. He admitted that it was indeed a gamble. Thereafter, he revealed the questions Spotify asked him. Nevertheless, he had made up his mind and wasn’t one to back away.

Rogan said, “And it was such a weird gamble because he, I left LA in the middle of the Spotify deal, this enormous deal and they were like, ‘what the f**k are you doing? You’re gonna go to Texas? How are you gonna get guests? How are you gonna do the-’ You know, it’s like there’s so much to it! Like, how do you do this! But I was like, I just like I, I have a compass, like, it’s like that way. Go that way.”
Carr enquired if Rogan really told all that to Spotify. He replied, “Yeah. I’m a risk-taker. When I feel like something is the thing to do, you should take a risk… I think that’s a giant component for success. You cannot play safe.”

Why did Rogan move to Texas?
Previously, in a conversation with Andrew Schulz (episode #1846), Rogan revealed the real reason behind his moving to Texas. He also tackled the rumors that people were talking about. He declared that he wanted to move to Austin not because he wanted to pay less taxes but to be free.

The famed and beloved podcaster declared, “I moved to Texas because I want f***ing freedom.” Nevertheless, moving to Texas was, in fact, one of the best moves Rogan has apparently done.
