Conor McGregor has the best pre-fight antics in the UFC. Though there have been some fighters who have tried to get into their opponent’s minds, no one came close to what ‘The Notorious’ did with his opponents.

However, when he returned to the Octagon in 2020, he was cordial towards his opponent, Donald Cerrone. Likewise, he was friendly with his rival, Dustin Poirier, ahead of their second bout at UFC 257. But the trilogy was a different story altogether.
At the ceremonial weigh-ins for UFC 264, ‘The Notorious’ had a message for his opponent, Dustin Poirier.
Longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan asked McGregor, “Conor, this is an immense fight; A huge fight, a huge fight for your career, a huge fight for the sport. What does tomorrow night mean to you?”
‘The Notorious‘ was coming off a loss to Poirier earlier in the year at UFC 257, where he was rather polite. However, ahead of this match, he came back to his grooves. Consequently, he responded, “Joe, in 16 hours’ time, this man is gonna learn that if you disrespect a person’s kindness and take it as a weakness, you must pay.”
“Tomorrow night I’m gonna make this man pay with his life, and I mean it. You’re dead in that Octagon tomorrow night,” concluded McGregor.
However, Poirier wasn’t worried about McGregor’s warning. Subsequently, he suggested McGregor’s words mean nothing to him, and it’s all ‘noise.’

McGregor proposed half a million donation to Poirier’s foundation. However, after the fight, Poirier suggested not hearing any words from McGregor’s team and made it public. The Irishman didn’t appreciate Poirier going public about the details of the donation. Thus, it created a rift between the two and led to an intense trilogy bout.
