Dillon Danis is to most people, a troll. Best known for his social media shenanigans, the 29-year-old purports to be a fighter but has only had 2 professional fights in his career. He calls out respected and loved MMA fighters, and is good friends with Conor McGregor, both of which are sufficient to get him hate in the MMA community. The American has now come out with an attack on former UFC BMF belt-holder Jorge Masvidal on Twitter.

Masvidal retired from the UFC earlier this year and has been involved with various fight promotions since before his retirement. The Cuban-American is a well-established if somewhat disliked former UFC fighter, best remembered for his spectacular flying-knee knockout of Ben Askren in the opening seconds of their bout in 2019. He is also a fervent Donald Trump supporter. Danis posted a picture on Twitter with a warning for ‘Gamebred’.

Danis posted a picture of him and Masvidal and a few messages Jorge Masvidal had given Danis on social media. “@dillondanis and i whoop u 100 out of 100 u got tagged up bye a security guard on his break” Masvidal wrote in a message and “@dillondanis ima put you thru a journey” in another. Danis wrote a caption accompanying the photo that read: “It seems like you can’t get my name out of your mouth, Jorge. You name it—MMA, boxing, grappling—whatever, I beat you every day of the week and twice on Sundays. You are a glorified journeyman.

Danis seems to have issued a public challenge to Jorge Masvidal. He insulted him by calling him a journeyman, as the welterweight never won a title. He also challenged ‘Gamebred’ to a fight in a martial art of his choosing and promised to beat him. There is no way to know for sure if the offer is serious, or just another ploy to farm publicity. But Danis can remedy that by offering a contract to Masvidal, who, in his retirement speech did not completely close the door on coming back for the “right fight”.

Fan sentiment (and common sense) would have you believe that Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal, who went the distance with Kamaru Usman, humiliated one of the greatest Bellator champions Ben Askren, and beat the legend and Stockton native Nate Diaz for the BMF belt would walk all over Dillon Danis. However, this is the fight game and the chances of Danis winning are more than zero. But not by much.
