Coming from a family of undefeated fighters with a legacy that outshines most, the hype surrounding Umar Nurmagomedov was nothing short of stellar. However, despite the immense anticipation, ‘The Young Eagle’ faltered in his bout against Merab Dvalishvili. ‘The Machine’ pushed the pace, taking the fight to the distance and securing the win via unanimous decision. The defeat was a hard pill to swallow for the Dagestani; however, it will be even tougher as Arman Tsarukyan has come forward to take a sly dig at Nurmagomedov.

Ahead of the UFC 311, Umar Nurmagomedov asserted that Islam Makhachev would defeat Tsarukyan in the bout. However, the clash never happened as the fighter had to pull out of the fight. In his latest comments, Tsarukyan seems to have returned the favor to Nurmagomedov. The Armenian fighter took to his Instagram handle to upload a meme video on his story to make fun of ‘The Young Eagle’ who just got his zero stolen by Dvalishvili.

Arman Tsarukyan captioned it “I’m like Umar too.” In the clip, a group of friends in a vehicle are celebrating on a drive, except one. The celebrating ones were named, ‘Tagir’, ‘Islam’ and ‘Khabib’ and the other one was ‘Umar.’ If you think back to UFC 311, this is self-explanatory, since Umar was the only one going home without a win. Just like him, Arman was also going home without a belt.

UFC 311 was a rough night for the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov. He coached his cousin to the path of victory but an injury halted his approach as he finally succumbed to Merab Dvalishvili‘s amazing cardio. This was quite tough, especially for the former lightweight champion as his family rarely witnessed losses in their MMA career. After the loss, ‘Eagle’ penned down an amazing message for his cousin after he went through the horrors of defeat.

Sharing a photo of himself from the match, Khabib Nurmagomedov writes, “Had a rough night last night as I expected… [Islam] has once again proven that he is the best in the world right now, and I am very happy for him and the journey he has taken in this sport, in the history of mixed martial arts, very few fighters have achieved what he has achieved. Keep working my brother, this is not the limit.”

He further added, “[Umar] keep your head up Junior, yesterday you showed that you are one of the best in the world, at the moment we have something to work on, we will work on the mistakes and return to the title race.”

The path back to the title will not be easy for Umar. He will likely have to get another win against a top-ranked opponent before Dana White puts him up for title contention. Umar Nurmagomedov went from 0 to 100 too quick with a win over Cory Sandhagen. There are other big names like Petr Yan, Deiveson Figueiredo, and Sean O’Malley all chomping at the bits at the top of the weight class.

Dvalishvili was not happy about Umar being fast-tracked and he made it known. That was what made things sour between the pair. What do you think is next for Umar Nurmagomedov? Give us your best guess in the comments.
