After Arman Tsarukyan was removed from the title picture by Dana White following his UFC 311 pullout, it was Charles Oliveira who was touted to be the next in line. However, the Armenian star doesn’t believe it would be fair to give someone else a title shot, as per his recent statement. According to the 28-year-old, he’s the sharp end of the stick in the lightweight division.

Currently, Tsarukyan ranks #1 in the 155lbs division as per the UFC rankings. Call it trial by fire because he has called out any fighter who wants to fight for the gold to meet him inside the Octagon before getting the chance to butt heads against Islam Makhachev. After all, he’s also trying to get that rematch against the Dagestani after his initial debacle.

“The number one contender has a name, and it’s Arman Tsarukyan. If anyone wants to be the number one contender, they need to fight me—I’m ready and open. Don’t be afraid to say my name. I promise I won’t hit too hard,” Arman Tsarukyan wrote in a post on Instagram.

Tsarukyan also revealed recently that he has spent an absurd amount of money on preparation, nearly $100,000 per month. Hence, it’s apparent that he’s not going to let anyone walk over him to fight for the title, given how much he’s invested in his training camp. Meanwhile, the Armenian has been called out by other contenders, but he seems to be keen on taking on ‘Do Bronx’, Let’s see what he had to say.

Arman Tsarukyan claims that a fight against Charles Oliveira is “more compelling”

After Arman Tsarukyan came to terms with Dana White’s decision to make his way back into the title shot, Michael Chandler called out the Armenian star. “You don’t show up, you don’t get a shot. Beat me, if you can,” ‘Iron’ tweeted. However, Tsarukyan believes there’s no sense in fighting Chandler, who’s been defeated twice by Oliveira. Hence, he responded by claiming that the only logical step for him was taking on the Brazilian.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Dana White right to sideline Tsarukyan, or is it time for a fair title shot?

“I’m not against it, but fighting someone who beat you twice sounds way more compelling,” Arman Tsarukyan responded. Moreover, ‘Ahalkalakets’ is interested in a 5-round clash against the Brazilian star, which was not the case when they fought at UFC 300. Now, it depends on Dana White to decide as Tsarukyan waits for what lies in his future.

Could that mean he is fighting Charles Oliveira? That remains to be seen, but, in the meantime, let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
