The monumental clash between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira is not far away. Makhachev currently reigns as the UFC lightweight champion and is all set to defend his title for the second time. Interestingly, the Dagestani fighter achieved the lightweight belt after fighting against Oliveira. The two top lightweights locked horns for the first time at UFC 280 on October 22, 2022, in Abu Dhabi. Back then, Makhachev achieved a glorious victory over the Brazilian fighter in the second round via arm triangle choke. Most of the fight fans didn’t expect Oliveira to tap out of the bout in the second round. However, ‘Do Bronx’ said on several occasions that he was not himself when he fought against Makhachev for the lightweight belt.

Now, after achieving a tremendous victory against Beneil Dariush at UFC 289, Oliveira has achieved yet another title shot against Makhachev at UFC 294, which will take place on October 21.  Islam Makhachev has proven on several occasions that he is one of the best fighters on the UFC roster. After winning the lightweight championship, Makhachev faced a fierce opponent in Alexander Volkanovski for his first title defense. The Dagestani fighter showed that he is someone who is determined to dominate anyone who faces him in the octagon. On the other hand, the MMA community highly criticized Oliveira for tapping out of a title shot at UFC 280. Later, he bounced back by knocking out Dariush in the very first round of their bout at UFC 289.

Oliveira and Makhachev will face off again, and recently, Makhachev brought up his previous win against Oliveira. The UFC lightweight champion took to his Instagram handle and posted a picture of him and Oliveira from UFC 280.

Under the picture, he wrote a message for his opponent, “I can’t wait #ufc294 Waiting for all in Abu Dhabi.“When fight fans came across the post, there was hardly anyone who supported Oliveira, which indeed shows that many lost their faith in Oliveira.

The comment section was filled with fans who supported Makhachev with all their hearts. They believed that the UFC lightweight champion was going to defend his title for the second time. These fans were sure that Makhachev would destroy Oliveira in the bout.
