Joe Rogan’s candid and unapologetic remarks have earned him a loyal following. However, as he finds himself in his late 50s, the UFC commentator has adopted a more polite, softer approach, reflecting the idea that “with age comes wisdom.” People today often see Rogan as more liberal, appealing to a younger generation of fans. Yet, this was not always the case. A recently resurfaced clip from 2007 showcases a much bolder and more outspoken version of Rogan.

The video, shared by the MMA-focused page ‘Backyard Violence,‘ shows the UFC commentator outside The Comedy Store in West Hollywood. In the clip, Lydia Lunch, an American singer, poet, actress, and self-empowerment speaker, confronts the comedian after his comedy show “Dumb Girls.” She challenges his jokes about women and tries to convince him that she is smarter than other women, sparking a heated gender debate.

Rogan does not hold back, firing back with sharp remarks, calling her “unfit” and accusing her of craving attention. He responds, “What are you, f*** tough? You’re an out-of-shape older woman… because you’re insecure. You’re used to people paying attention to you. I know people like you, and you’re f** pathetic. You’re dark and mysterious because you’re unhappy.”

While the video didn’t gain much attention online when it first aired, it has recently resurfaced, leaving fans shocked by Rogan’s bold and unapologetic remarks from back then. The clip has sparked lively discussions in the comment sections, with many expressing disbelief at the ‘Tyler Durden’ side of the podcaster they’re seeing. Let’s take a look at what fans had to say in the comments.

Fans react to Joe Rogan shutting down “feminist”

The clash between two outspoken personalities from different artistic worlds certainly grabbed the attention of fans, showcasing both humor and social commentary. One fan in the comments supported Joe Rogan’s points, writing, “Joe’s bang on. Now imagine it the other way around.” Another fan questioned Lydia Lunch’s actions and how she treated the podcaster, commenting, “That’s not a feminist.”

Has Joe Rogan mellowed with age, or is he just playing it safe for the younger crowd?

Lydia Lunch, born in New York to German and Italian descent, is known for her bold and abrasive delivery, often operating outside major labels. She became a prominent figure in the alternative music scene, contributing to the New Wave movement with her band Teenage Jesus and the Jerks. Known for challenging punk norms, Lunch left a lasting impact on the American underground music scene, with the Boston Phoenix even naming her one of the top 10 most influential performers of the 1990s.

However, when facing Rogan, her influence appeared to falter. One fan, taken aback by the podcaster’s assertive behavior, commented, “Joe’s calmed down a lot since those days lol.” Indeed, Rogan has become much more composed over the years. This is not the first time an older video of Joe Rogan has resurfaced online. A few years ago, a Fear Factor clip went viral, showing the podcaster almost getting into a physical altercation with a contestant. A fan remarked, “Joe f***in’ Rogan, Fear Factor,” while another fan poked fun at Lunch’s defeat in the argument, saying, “Lol, Lydia Lunch definitely cried after that.

Due to her controversial views, Lydia Lunch faced difficulties living in the U.S. before 2010 and eventually moved to Barcelona, Spain. She returned to America in 2017, though her current whereabouts are unknown. During a recent interview on her 2024 Australian tour, interviewers asked her about Rogan’s role in Donald Trump’s presidential victory. Lunch criticized the 57-year-old, stating, “Talking of ‘Stupid men in positions of power that are f–ing the whole f–ing world and everybody else in it,’ when I was prepping to talk to you, I came across that Joe Rogan clip on YouTube.”

However, Lunch openly acknowledged that while Rogan has built a lucrative career, she has not. Even after all these years, it’s clear that their heated exchange on the night of August 16, 2007, continues to leave an impression on her. For the Podcaster’s fans, though, he remains “a Top G,” a term famously associated with internet personality and former kickboxer Andrew Tate.

What’s your perspective on the verbal showdown between Joe Rogan and Lydia Lunch? Did Rogan handle the situation with the right approach, or did he cross a line in asserting his ideology? Was the podcaster’s response to Lunch justified, or did he go too far? Share your thoughts below.
