The Joe Rogan Experience celebrated the successful completion of 12 years. While Talking with guest, Brian Redban, Joe Rogan touched on the topic of WNBA star Brittney Griner and the scary incident in Russia. The basketball star had to spend 10 months inside a Russian prison before she was eventually released from custody.
Rogan starts the conversation by saying that most people who are in jail related to cannabis crimes are the ones who sell or produce the drug; not those who are found in possession of it. He also talked about the Britney Griner incident.
“You know this Brittney Griner thing? People are not making enough about how many people are in jail for marijuana in this country. It’s great they got her out. It’s not great that they had to give up a f*****g horrible arms dealer to get her out,” said Rogan.

The famed UFC Commentator is on the positive side of legalizing cannabis for recreational use. He showed a strong dislike for Griner being detained in Russia. He also discussed other renowned names who were involved in trouble with the law for alleged cannabis possession. Canadian actor Tommy Chong once got threatened that his family would be put in prison for his cannabis possession and use.
Joe Rogan talked about Griner’s swap with an arms dealer
The jailed WNBA star Brittney Griner was swapped by the US government for arms dealer Viktor Bout. He was held in US prison for more than 12 years before the swap deal. Joe Rogan touched on this issue in another episode of his podcast with guest Steve Rinella. “I have like, one understanding of it where I?m like, ?Oh, so she broke a rule?, the rule seems like not that big of a deal? And I?m like holy sh*t, they?re really using her as a political pawn,” said Rinella.
