Conor McGregor turning down $200 million—Is he crazy or just confident in bigger opportunities?

Even after recovering from his pinky toe injury, UFC megastar Conor McGregor is still looking to make his return to combat sports, whether in the boxing ring or the MMA octagon. McGregor’s relentless ambition was highlighted yesterday when he unexpectedly offered unified welterweight champion Terence Crawford a fight through an Instagram comment, saying, “Big respect to [Terence Crawford] 100 million dollars a fight, 1 MMA, 1 boxing. 200 million dollars.” In response, Crawford expressed that he was “tempted.” However, no agreement has been reached for the fight.

McGregor’s former nemesis, Nate Diaz, wants to fit into the picture to secure the $200 million payday. This intention was shared by the MMA-oriented page ‘The Mac Life Official’ on Instagram with an infographic that Diaz posted on X, referring to his quote and writing, “I box Crawford and fight Conor next 168 Ifg.” This post recently caught the attention of ‘The Notorious One,’ who sharply remarked in the comments, “What a shape for a body shot!” This response directly indicates that McGregor is still not open to Diaz’s offer and may continue to consider other potential opponents.

Meanwhile, Nate Diaz is currently on a high after his recent win against former MMA rival Jorge Masvidal in a boxing match earlier this July. On the other hand, Conor McGregor is now left without an opponent, as his previous one, Michael Chandler, grew impatient waiting for Mystic Mac’s return for more than 18 months and has moved on to fight Charles Oliveira at the upcoming UFC event at Madison Square Garden.

Michael Chandler backed Conor McGregor despite the ongoing criticisms

More than Conor McGregor, Michael Chandler has become a subject of ridicule in the MMA community for waiting too long. He was even labeled “Hachiko” by Islam Makhachev, referring to the loyal dog who died waiting for his master until his death. However, unfazed by the situation, ‘Iron’ remained resolute. After witnessing one delay after another, he realized that this fight might not happen at least this year. Eventually, he decided to move on from McGregor, but he did not hold any personal grudges against him.

He slammed his haters in his trademark fashion, stating, “It’s really funny. You’ve had a thousand fighters sit here across from you and talk to you during interviews, and all of them have said that I was Conor’s little whipping boy or that I was waiting too long or wasting my career.” Chandler further questioned his doubters about his desire for “Red Panty Night,” claiming, “Every single one of them would have held onto this Conor fight, even if they say publicly that they wouldn’t. Every single one of those guys wants this fight.”
