The news that Conor McGregor might return to the Octagon has shaken up the UFC universe. Fans are excited to see their favorite smack-talker denigrate his opponents with wit and humor. He was slated to face his TUF rival Michael Chandler upon his return to the octagon. However, from the recent turn of events, it seems unlikely that Conor McGregor would be fighting this year.

USADA testing is conducted before fights to ensure that no fighter resorts to PEDs to gain an unfair advantage. Conor McGregor failed to turn up for the USADA testing multiple times. He is way past his last call for the testing group but according to news, there is an exception that can be made if the UFC decides so. With that being highly improbable, the Irishman’s chances of returning this year are slim to none. But what about in the near future? Answers UFC veteran Michael Bisping in a recent interview.

The hype around Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler really set up the UFC as well as the fighters, for a big payday. However, with McGregor failing to appear for the USADA testing pool, the match has been put off indefinitely – or at least till McGregor decides to come through.

In his latest podcast episode, Bisping talks about Conor McGregor’s TUF rival and potential future opponent Michael Chandler, and his matches against Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier. Then he goes on to talk about Chandler’s stipulated match against the Irishman.

Him versus McGregor would have been a brilliant matchup… you know? McGregor doesn’t lose out. McGregor’s not asked, you know. He’s probably… who knows. I… I could see a world where he probably never fights again,” commented the UFC legend, referring to Conor McGregor’s latest USADA fiasco that, indirectly, dealt a huge blow to the reputation of the promotion as well.

I know he loves fighting – he loves to talk about it. He loves to actually take part in fights. But the reality is with the money that he’s made – the lifestyle that he’s got – it’s just not conducive, you know,” said Bisping, acknowledging the fact that regardless of what is being said about McGregor, his love for the game and his want to fight is always going to be a reality.

After walking away from the UFC, McGregor has been seen enjoying an affluent lifestyle. Referring to this, Michael Bisping said, “I don’t even want to hear about silk sheets when you’re rolling around and sailing Yachts you know what I mean“.

Conor McGregor – one controversy after another with no UFC fight in sight?

McGregor’s return to the UFC was highly anticipated. The UFC president Dana White was as enthused as ever, to have his star ringmaster back. However, it fell through as Conor McGregor fell short. Not on the monetary side of things though, since Conor McGregor is worth $200 million according to recent reports.

McGregor repeatedly failed to join the USADA pool. Despite warnings and ultimatums, the fighter has not reciprocated in any kind of way and to that effect, possibly forgone the fight against Michael Chandler. Recently, he found himself entangled in yet another controversy that almost developed into yet another lawsuit. McGregor punched the mascot for the Miami Heat recently. He followed up his first punch with a second one as the mascot was lying on the floor. There is hearsay that it was all staged but the mascot was injured to the extent that he had to be hospitalized.
