Steamy visuals, sexual undertones, and punchy beats are the recipes that Sam Smith cooked with their ‘Unholy’ song. They took the world by storm with their new dish and made it an instant hit. But when the English singer performed it at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, they took it a notch above. Their all-red performance with a horned hat sharply divided the internet and left some fans horrified and disgusted. It appears Joe Rogan is one of them.

Almost seven months have elapsed since the hotly debated performance, and it again made the rounds on the latest Joe Rogan Experience episode. The UFC commentator expressed his honest, candid opinion when he sat down with Brian Simpson. And it is all about drawing parallels.

The famed podcaster, appearing on JRE #2035, started the conversation as he lauded Oliver Anthony for his recent #1 hit ‘Rich Men North of Richmond’. Following this, he disclosed that Anthony had achieved fame after giving himself to God. “He just broke down, gave himself to God, started reading scriptures every day. Two weeks later, number one song in the world,” Rogan declared.

But what if Anthony had taken a route that went through Satan? That’s what the guest wondered too, and if the 56-year-old podcaster is to believe, it would be something similar to Sam Smith’s.

“He would be that dude with the f*cking. What’s that guy’s name? Sam. What’s his name? With the f*cking red skirt on the Grammys dancing around like a devil? What’s his name? Sam Smith. That guy,” Rogan announced.

However, the horned costume performances and the allure of demonic themes are nothing new but have gained traction recently. Lil Nas X did it earlier and nailed it with ‘Montero’. But Rogan believes it was hilarious. Meanwhile, he issued strict advice to Simpson.

“Lil Nas X did it earlier. Bro, the Lil Nas X one was hilarious because everyone freaked out. They couldn’t believe it,” Rogan continued. To this, Simpson chimed in and added, “Because he was giving the devil a lap dance.”

When Young Jamie pulled up Sam Smith’s Grammy performance on the screen, Simpson couldn’t hide his curiosity and asked whether the clip was recent. After Young Jamie’s clarification, he mentioned, “Man, I don’t be keeping up with sh*t.” While Simpson was disappointed with his lack of awareness of recent upheavals, Rogan suggested ignorance was bliss. “Good for you. Don’t keep up,” Rogan concluded.
