Concerns were all around after news surfaced that Dana White was struggling to sell out UFC 306 with almost 3000 tickets left unsold recently. Is the pay-per-view going to go bust? Well, not because the UFC CEO claims that despite all the challenges, things are falling into place and he also claims that making a profit from his love letter to the Mexican fans won’t be a problem.
Dana White doesn’t usually have to spend more than a couple million dollars for his normal UFC events, but the sphere demanded something more since it’s all about visuals in that arena. He had less than $10 million as the budget for this PPV, but an error in his calculation made him spend more than double that amount. “A regular UFC event takes us to two and a half million bucks. The budget for this was $8 million because we didn’t know. We’re at $20 million,” White told ‘Time’s Magazine’.
What does Dana White think of spending more than $20 million? Well, for him, it’s like “building a house.” However, it’s not stopping him from believing that it will work out as it often does and that good revenue is guaranteed. “It’s like building a house. But we did really well with sponsorship and a lot of other things. It’ll be very profitable,” Dana White added.

The UFC CEO’s confidence is sky-high for a reason, and that’s because the promotion reached an unbelievable milestone in the MMA world, and that too, without their biggest cash cow, Conor McGregor‘s help. If you’re not aware already, UFC 306 recorded the promotion’s biggest gate ever.

UFC 306 smashes all-time gate record
Yes, Conor McGregor, the man who draws the most fans for Dana White’s promotion, didn’t have any say in UFC’s biggest with the upcoming PPV. The Sean O’Malley vs Merab Dvalishvili headliner, despite all the reported hurdles, has crossed the $23 million gate mark, according to reports, the biggest ever. We don’t know if was ‘Suga’s superstar status or the fact that it’s based on Mexican Independence Day, but the UFC CEO was delighted when he announced this news.

“You know me, I love to break records,” he stated this Tuesday. “This is going to be the biggest gate we’ve ever done in the history of the company, and the most pre-buys on PPV ever, too. People have been buying the event the week before the event.” If Dana’s claims hold up then it’s only a matter of time before we get to see what a $23 million gate looks like.
