Conor McGregor has called out many UFC fighters on social media while away from action. However, it seems like he is going to fight Michael Chandler on his comeback, which was Dana White‘s initial plan. Meanwhile, he recently received an unexpected callout from a fighter under the BKFC banner, Buakaw.

Buakaw is one of the biggest names in the Asian mixed martial arts scene. He is a highly renowned Muay Thai fighter hailing from Thailand and has 73 knockouts to his name. The 41-year-old recently defeated fellow Muay Thai fighter Saenchai at BKFC Thailand 5, following which he expressed his urge to fight the biggest UFC star ever.

In a recent article posted by BKFC on their website, Buakaw mentioned that he’s ready to fight in a Muay Thai rules match with anyone who’s up for a fight. However, he is only willing to fight someone who has made a name for themselves on the biggest stage in combat sports. Buakaw wants to be tested in a fight.

He said, “I’ve told BKFC I’d fight absolutely anyone under this new rule set, but it has to be a big name. I’m ready to go to war with anyone. I want someone to really test me.”

Then the 41-year-old turned his attention to Conor McGregor and claimed that fighting ‘The Notorious’ is his biggest dream. However, it is not an MMA fight that he wants. Buakaw wants a Muay Thai fight against the former UFC double champion. But he was not sure if McGregor would be up for the challenge.

“My ultimate fight would be against Conor McGregor in a bare-knuckle Thai fight, but I wonder if McGregor would even take a fight like that against me. I doubt it.” Buakaw added. Although McGregor has yet to respond to this callout, he once expressed what he thought of fighting in the BKFC.

‘The Notorious’ could consider fighting under bare-knuckle rules

Conor McGregor made headlines when he had a face off against Mike Perry at BKFC 41. He later shared a post on Instagram and mentioned his thoughts on a potential BKFC fight and claimed to be unafraid of competing in the type of fight they promote. He said, “I was called into the bare knuckle ring last night. I fear nothing. No man that breathes air.”

Furthermore, he also pondered fighting under BKFC rule sets. Conor McGregor claimed that if God guided him to have a career in bare-knuckle, he would happily oblige. “I only fear God and abide by God and if God guides me to a professional bare knuckle fight in my time for my new world title, I do,” McGregor added.

Besides MMA, Conor McGregor has competed in a professional boxing match against Floyd Mayweather. It proved to be a big financial success. However, that was McGregor’s only boxing match. Since then, he’s stuck to fighting in MMA fights in the UFC. But he has never expressed any interest in competing in Muay Thai fights. So for now we will have to wait and see if the Irishman responds to Buakaw’s challenge.
