James Bond is one of the biggest movie franchises in pop culture. It celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2022. But the books have undergone a significant change this year. Authorities have decided to rewrite the contents of Ian Fleming‘s classic novels to cater to the sensitive readers of modern times. However, UFC star Conor McGregor‘s coach, John Kavanagh, posted a tweet regarding the issue.
James Bond books went through a sensitivity review. The outcome of the review resulted in the decision to rewrite the books and remove racial references from them. The 70th anniversary of the first James Bond book, ‘Casino Royale’, will be celebrated in April 2023 with a reissue of all Bond books. A lot of people on the internet voiced their displeasure with the changes made in the book. They even slammed and accused the James Bond publishers of their adherence to the ‘woke’ culture. The decision to rewrite James Bond books was taken after the classic Roald Dahl children’s books were being modified to appeal to the current generation of readers. They removed sensitive words like “black,” the n-word, and other derogatory terms to cater to sensitive readers of the current times.
