Most UFC fans had their hopes up about witnessing Conor McGregor’s return to the octagon after he was elected as a coach for TUF 31. As per the ongoing ritual, the TUF coaches take on each other inside the octagon after the end of the season. Hence, the fans had also expected McGregor’s return with a bout against the noted UFC Lightweight and his TUF rival, Michael Chandler. But a lot of them were disappointed when ‘Mystic Mac’ failed to enlist himself inside the USADA testing pool within their given deadline.

Quite understandably, it would restrict McGregor from gaining clearance to compete inside the octagon. But, the UFC boss, Dana White, came to the rescue at this point. White announced that the UFC has a way in which McGregor can still compete at the scheduled date of his return. Recently, McGregor also looked confident as he gave out the timeline of his return and also listed his next three opponents. But things have taken a rapid turn since then.

Just a few days back, McGregor attended the coveted boxing bout between Anthony Joshua and Robert Helenius at the O2 Arena in London. There, he also talked to ‘TalkSport’ and revealed that he would be making his return in “December”. With his characteristic swagger, McGregor also named Michael Chandler, Justin Gaethje, and Nate Diaz as his three targeted opponents.

But McGregor sounded completely different when he posted a voice note on his Twitter profile recently. In his now-deleted voice note, McGregor said, “They’re not going to let me fight in December, ladies and gentlemen”.

He also continued the series of his voice notes where he said, “You’ve seen Chris Weidman. Imagine what that injury is. I feel like I’m being kept from my livelihood, and I’ve been feeling this for years. I’m not going to air grievances. I’m going to buoy down and soldier on. I’m ready. I wanted an announcement for Dec. 16[about UFC 296]. I’ve given everything. So, it’s not going to happen. It doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.”

Conor McGregor is desperate to get back inside the Octagon

‘The Notorious’ also wanted to get the UFC CEO, Ari Emanuel, involved in this issue. Maybe he viewed Emanuel as a more influential person who could actually change things in this regard. Although the initial part of his words revealed, he had somewhere accepted the fact that he won’t be allowed to compete this year. His next words showcased that he still had the belief that Emanuel or the NSAC can actually do something about this.

‘MMA Junkie’ reported the exact words of McGregor in this regard. He stated, “I’m going to keep doing my thing. I’m in a great spot, and I’ll see yas all soon. F*cking early next year, hopefully. Please God, someone. Ari, Ari. My man. I’m ready, yeah? Dec. 16, I am ready. Nevada State Athletic Commission, Bob Bennett may have retired. Un-retire. Because when I’m around the game – ring Bob Bennett. Tell the commission what’s the story, because I’m being kept from my livelihood here. Turns out Bob’s retired and I’m like, ‘What the f**k?’”
