Khamzat Chimaev has an inspirational story engulfed in his love for wrestling and MMA. The welterweight star was born in Chechnya, Russia, and started wrestling at a very young age. Currently, he is one of the top prospects in the UFC welterweight division, dominating fight after fight.
Chimaev moved to Sweden with his mother and won gold in the Swedish National Championship there. He started his MMA training aged 23 and never looked back. However, the Russian-born fighter credited Conor McGregor as one of the guys who inspired him.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Chimaev revealed how Conor McGregor’s fight with Jose Aldo motivated him. McGregor fought Aldo in 2015 and finished the latter within just 13 seconds to become the UFC featherweight champion.
Chimaev mentioned the fight and said, “I see the guys like knock him out. I was thinking if that guy did that **** then why I’m not doing it. I’m like… mentally I’m stronger and my body is bigger than him I know and I was feeling if that time if I just meet him outside I can broke him, If he makes that money why not me?”
Chimaev signed with the UFC in 2020 and has an impeccable record in the promotion so far. He finished all four of his opponents and earned a name for himself in the industry.

‘Borz’ is currently one of the top prospects in the UFC welterweight division, and is tipped to get a title shot soon. Ever since he joined the UFC, Chimaev has denied looking back and has improved with every fight.
He has a flawless 10-0 record in MMA and has made a name for himself with his world-class grappling. He has finished all of his opponents in the cage and keeps a low-key mysterious identity. After spending a few years in the amateur circle, Chimaev joined the Brave Combat Federation.
After an impressive run in BCF, Chimaev finally earned a call-up to the UFC. He recently revealed his reaction when he received a call from UFC.

‘Borz’ said, “Yeah, when they called me at that time I didn’t know like now I’m gonna go inside the UFC how to take everything out there make a better life and everything I was thinking about all night I couldn’t sleep you know. So it was like… yeah I don’t know… amazing. It is amazing.”
Khamzat Chimaev is eyeing a title shot next if he defeats ‘Durinho’ at UFC 273 on April 9, 2022.
