In the realm of mixed martial arts, Jorge Masvidal is largely recognized as a talented and exciting competitor. His retirement from active competition was sudden and shocking for the fans, but keeping himself occupied with podcasts and interviews, he never misses an opportunity to express his enthusiasm when sharing his experiences. 

The scenario was similar when ‘Gamebred’ related another experience. While sitting in an interview on George Janko’s YouTube channel, Masvidal spoke about his peculiar experience, which he witnessed a few days before his retirement fight at UFC 287.

What was so peculiar about Jorge Masvidal’s conversation with Donald Trump?

The 27th episode of the show featured a lengthy conversation between Masvidal and popular podcast host and social media figure George Janko. Through the means of the podcast, Masvidal expressed one of his lifetime experiences when he got a call from the former President of the United States Donald Trump.

The discussion got even more captivating when the 38-year-old said that he had called Trump at midnight. Masvidal eagerly quoted, “I uh I had pulled like my calves right before my last fight so was getting therapy and my homie was here my twin as you say so um, I didn’t have the phone on me I looked and I go bro Trump just called me; he goes no way, and I go bro he just call me and his is like, by the time I see the message and it was like 12 at night I’m thinking if he’s going to pick up” Masvidal appeared enthusiastic after detailing the anecdote. 

Following his ring had gone, Trump picks up the phone and says,  “My favorite Masvidal, what’s going on? Man, I love you, man. I will never forget how we won in Miami man. What’s going on Masvidal? How’s the training camp going? You know I am coming to your fight right this from my last fight in Miami. You know I am going to be there right? You know when you are on, nobody can beat you in this world man, you are a f*cking machine man. How’s your training camp going?”

Masvidal replied, making everyone chuckle,  “I was like; It was great (laughing). Why is this dude calling me it’s crazy!”

Masvidal clearly enjoyed speaking with Donald Trump, as evidenced by his exuberance. It was undeniably an anomalous yet wonderful experience for him.

After so many praises and well wishes, Masvidal would have been delighted to get a call from a guy like Donald Trump. His spirit must have been fueled by the fact that he is Trump’s favorite. Masvidal has a long history in the game. He is well-known in the world of contemporary martial arts. And Trump’s admiration makes it evident.

‘Gamebred’ called it quits after falling to beat Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 in Miami. He did, however, state that he would ‘entertain’ a return to the UFC if a highly compelling fight card is put up in an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour
