It is unclear why UFC president Dana White abruptly left following the conclusion of last week’s PPV. Neither the fans nor the media got the chance to have a word with the UFC’s head.

Moreover, there will be no event this weekend, which will keep White away from the spotlight for another few weeks. The MMA promotion might be trying to space things between one PPV to another, or are there other reasons behind it?

UFC 271 is still a few weeks away that will bring the highly anticipated rematch between Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya. The matchup will take place on February 13, which will follow up UFC’s Fight Night Jack Hermansson vs. Sean Strickland taking place on Feb 6. The promotion has left this week’s slot empty for reasons unknown.

Possible reasons why UFC is not hosting an event this week

There are many speculations going around in the community, regarding why the MMA organization is skipping this week. The new year has barely started, and it is quite possible that Dana White does not want to drown the fans with too many fights. The community needs time to collect themselves, following the conclusion of the massive heavyweight clash.

Hence why, no events have been booked for this week, is because key middleweight fights will take the centre stage next month.

Another plausible reason why the MMA organization is not willing to host an event this weekend can be related to another big event that is set to happen then. WWE is going to hold its annual Royal Rumble PPV this upcoming weekend. This will be one of the biggest events of the year, and it is indeed going to attract a lot of viewers.

Therefore, it would definitely not make sense to go head-to-head with such a massive pay-per-view that will most likely leave its compatriots in the dust. However, even this is just speculation, and the exact reason behind the promotion not having an event this weekend is unkown.
