Is YouTube's shadowban on Trump-Rogan interview a sign of political bias or justified moderation?

On Friday, former President Donald J. Trump sat down with the UFC commentator for almost three hours on “The Joe Rogan Experience.” There they talked about it all, whether it be him suggesting the elimination of the income tax, discussing mixed martial arts fighters, or the possibility of life on Mars. The video truly blew up, as it earned over 20 million views on YouTube in just 20 hours.

However, soon the video was removed from YouTube, and people could no longer watch it. So why did it happen? Well, the answer to it is the fact that the video has been shadowbanned by YouTube for violating its guidelines. As a result, one may find it on his YouTube channel but not through a basic search. To counter this, Joe Rogan has now shared the full podcast on his X, as he wrote, “Since there’s an issue with searching for this episode on YouTube, here is the full podcast with Trump.”

It is worth noting that Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, recently accused Google and YouTube of censoring former President Donald Trump’s interview on Joe Rogan’s podcast and claiming they were responsible for the video not being visible to the public on YouTube. Taking to his Twitter, Musk wrote, “There is massive far left censorship at Google/YouTube.”. He was replying to a user claiming ‘If you search “Joe Rogan Trump” on YouTube the interview no longer comes up. It’s replicable, try it yourself. 🤔’.”

Some other social media users also chimed in as they claimed that people are getting Kamala Harris-related videos as search results when they look for the podcast featuring Joe Rogan and Donald Trump. As a user wrote, “Not to really get political, but this is an insane move by Google, $GOOGL. When you search up “Joe Rogan Trump” to try and find his interview, it doesn’t show up.. However, Kamala related videos are put at the top. This is insane.”

So can it really be a political move? Well, one must not forget that currently even Elon Musk’s accusations should be taken with a pinch of salt considering that he is campaigning for Donald Trump. As for Rogan, he surely must be trying a way around to get his popular podcast back on the search results. But what happened to the plans of him having Kamala Harris on his podcast? Why didn’t she join the show?

After his shadowban, Joe Rogan reveals the reason behind Kamala Harris not being on JRE

What’s your perspective on:

Is YouTube's shadowban on Trump-Rogan interview a sign of political bias or justified moderation?

Have an interesting take?

In a recent tweet, Joe Rogan revealed the reason behind the Democrat candidate not appearing on the podcast. He revealed that Kamala Harris’ campaign wanted him to leave his studio in Texas to join her for the podcast, and the duration of the episode would only be limited to an hour. These restrictions surely did not sit well with Rogan, as he explained that he would rather shoot the episode in his Austin studio.

He wrote, “Also, for the record the Harris campaign has not passed on doing the podcast. They offered a date for Tuesday, but I would have had to travel to her and they only wanted to do an hour. I strongly feel the best way to do it is in the studio in Austin. My sincere wish is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a human being. I really hope we can make it happen.”

Well, it surely looks like fans won’t be getting to see Harris on JRE anytime soon. This surely would be a missed opportunity for the Democrat representative since being on JRE surely would’ve given her a boost when it came to winning the votes of the young male demographic. But what do you think? Is there still a chance that we might get to see her on the podcast? Let us know in the comments.
