Cejudo likes to anoint himself the greatest combatant of all time, and there is a case to be for the same. Not to mention, his nickname, ‘Triple C,’ is also related to his impressive credentials in several disciplines of martial arts. The former bantamweight champion became a gold medalist in wrestling back in the 2008 Olympics. Thereafter, he conquered the sports of martial arts by becoming a dual-weight champion in the UFC.

That is why he goes by the name of Triple C because he has been a champion in two weight divisions and proved to be the best wrestler. Nevertheless, it bears mention that his nickname may not hold in today’s age in time as he is neither the strawweight champion nor the bantamweight champion anymore.

Not to mention, his rival, Alajamain Sterling even joked about his nickname after defeating him. As per TMZ, he said, “I think he’s now ‘Double C.’ Maybe even just ‘One C’ now.” He added, “Maybe he’s just Henry. He’s just Henry now. He’s just Henry. I took his gold medal. I took his gold belt. I don’t know, there’s not much left.”

Moreover, in the same interview, the former bantamweight champion said his whole “Triple C,” was quite “cringe,” and many fans would find in agreement with Sterling.

He started calling himself, ‘King of Cringe,’ and purposely started to make corny jokes to make the fans a frenzy and call him cringe again.

However, ironically enough, this trick of his got him more attention and he thoroughly enjoyed it. As per ESPN, his striking coach, once said, “His followers went up, everything went up. Maybe because they hated him, whatever. But he laughs when he posts something and you’ll see 500 comments and 300 of them are all negative. He just laughs at it.'”
