In today’s modern world, where social media has become an essential part of everyone’s lives, even MMA fighters are not unaffected by it. One name that often comes to mind when we think of fighters who have significantly shared their personal lives on social media is none other than former UFC dual champion Conor McGregor. Although he may have been out of the octagon for several years, his daily social media posts are enough to keep him connected to his fans. On the other hand, there are fighters like McGregor’s prime nemesis, Khabib Nurmagomedov, who prefer to keep their personal lives private.
Except for his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, and his cousins, no MMA fan has ever seen any other member of Khabib’s family, including his children, which has left fans scratching their heads. The reason for ‘The Eagle’s’ privacy has remained a mystery until now, as he finally broke his silence and opened up about why he keeps his family away from the spotlight.

It’s a widely held belief in the MMA community that, aside from Khabib Nurmagomedov and his family, no one has actually seen his wife, Patimat, in person. They have been married for over a decade and reportedly have three children—tKhabib Nurmagomedov discusses his family’s privacy, explaining his desire to let his children choose their own paths away from fame two sons and one daughter. This situation excites Khabib’s fans, prompting them to wonder how his kids look, especially the eldest. Has he already started practicing wrestling? However, Nurmagomedov is unlikely to provide his fans with any glimpses of his children, which might leave them feeling frustrated.
However, there’s a reason for this, as Nurmagomedov recently disclosed in an interview with the Ushatayka YouTube channel. He stated, “If you talk about my family and kids on social media, this is my family, okay? Maybe they don’t want to be famous. Right now, my son is six years old, and when he becomes older—maybe 18 or 20—he might ask me why I made him famous. This is what I don’t want. I don’t want to make him famous without asking.”
Nurmagomedov further opened up about how to be a better father to his kids, emphasizing the importance of allowing them to choose their own path. He claimed, “Right now, I cannot ask my kids what they want because they don’t understand. You can’t make decisions for them at this age. Just give them a good education and a good life.”

Now that ‘Eagle’ has made his intentions clear, fans will be able to understand why he has never posted any pictures with his son on social media and why they should respect his privacy. However, this is not the first time Nurmagomedov’s family members have come into the spotlight. A few years ago, his relationship with his mother became a focal point of attention in the MMA world.
When Khabib Nurmagomedov fulfilled his promise to his mother
In an imperfect world, if you were to search for the perfect fighter in MMA—one who embodies being a better human, the best fighter, and the best son to his parents—no one can match UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov. He was once on the verge of a perfect 30-0 record; however, Nurmagomedov had to say goodbye to his lucrative MMA career to take over his mixed martial arts school in Dagestan at the request of his mother after his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, passed away due to COVID-19 complications, leaving his father’s school without a master.

Even after so many years have passed, ‘Eagle’ has never even considered breaking the vows he pledged, even when UFC head honcho Dana White offered him $100 million. Khabib spoke about this during the “Class A Events” held in Canada back in 2022, saying, “I love my mother for millions and millions of reasons. I know that even in Dagestan, this is not just about Dagestan, but I know a lot of people have bad relationships with their parents. I really, really don’t understand this. How can people have bad relationships with their parents? Yes, my mother, for me, is everything. Even now, she is still with me, living in the same house. I treat her like a queen.”
