The PFL is in deep trouble. Well, this wasn’t something that Dana White hasn’t already addressed. But it was the 3-time Bellator FC featherweight champion, Patricio Pitbull who brought out the reality of the fight promotion on social media. Targeting Pete Murray and Donn Davis, the Bellator double champion lashed out in nothing but fury dictating his words. Needless to say, the UFC CEO was also alerted by the backlash. But what did Pitbull actually want to convey?
The 37-year-old fighter has been asking to be released from his PFL contract. His contract is indeed going null in May 2025, following which, he would want to get himself signed into the UFC. But PFL bosses seemed to have different plans for Pitbull. In his rage, the future UFC star (if things work out for Pitbull) took to X and shared 4 tweets. The first one read, “My management team had a call with @PeteMurrayPFL tonight and despite making clear my desire to leave and some of my reasons, even noticing my contract is up in May, @pflmma won’t let me go and intends to hold me there against my will. @arielhelwani @DonnDavisPFL (1/4).”
In the second one, Pitbull went on to diss the PFL’s ironic attitude of putting the fighters first. But instead of letting him go, Murray and Davis wanted him to fight in April, one month prior to the end of his contract. He wrote, “You say you’re fighters first but decided to keep me hostage @DonnDavisPFL @PeteMurrayPFL. You know I want to pursue something else but want me to fight in April and intend to enforce other clauses of my contract after it’s up. How is that the best for me? @arielhelwani (2/4)”

But Pitbull wasn’t done yet. He went on with a third tweet, writing, “It’s really absurd and disappointing that I have to come on X to voice all this. Do the right thing and release me @PeteMurrayPFL @DonnDavisPFL. I was a @BellatorMMA fighter and it no longer exists. The promotion is gone and so should I. @arielhelwani (3/4)” Of course, it was the inactivity that frustrated him. Pitbull hadn’t fought since March, and since time stops for none, he is also losing his prime time. He continued, “I haven’t fought since March. They want me to fight in April. Over a year of my life and career that I’ll never get back. Why force me to stay @DonnDavisPFL @PeteMurrayPFL? Focus on those that want to fight for @PFLMMA and let me move on. @arielhelwani (4/4)”

But wait, is Dana White actually ready to take Pitbull in? Well, that’s something only time can tell. But one thing was certain. The UFC head honcho did respond to Pitbull’s previous callout for justice.
Dana White comes to Patricio Pitbull’s aid to expose PFL
Even though he has 36 wins and just 7 losses in his fighting career, Pitbull was left without a fight for a pretty long time. He had had enough and lashed out at the organization for the mismanagement. But it seemed like White already knew such a thing was going to happen. And during the UFC 310 press conference, the UFC boss found an excuse to lash out at his competition.

White said, “Listen, the last couple of months we’ve been talking a lot about the PFL, you know? They’re canceling a lot of shows, I know that a lot of guys that are supposed to fight aren’t fighting and I mean, you guys know what the f**k is going on. When you see that start to happen, you’re running out of money. Things aren’t looking good and you’re going to have people that want to jump ship.”
Pitbull wasn’t the only fighter who opened up on the inactivity. Patchy Mix, was also frustrated by getting his fight in November 2024 canceled. Instead, he got scheduled to fight in January in Dubai. Even Corey Anderson was left without a fight when his bout against Leandro Higo was canceled. But would PFL come out of this rut? Only time can tell.
