UFC 295 is less than a month away, but the card has already started facing issues. The main event, which was scheduled to take place for the heavyweight title between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, has now been canceled. Moreover, ‘Bones’ suffered an injury during training, forcing Dana White to make a new matchup.
There was a lot of anticipation surrounding Jon Jones’ first heavyweight title defense against Stipe Miocic. The 27-1 fighter was determined to make the most of the opportunity to prove himself as the greatest of all time. However, it does not look like that fight will happen anytime soon.
Jon Jones suffers injury ahead of UFC 295

Dana White shared a video on Instagram to share the unfortunate news about the cancelation of the fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. He was involved in a training session recently, where he suffered a torn pectoral muscle injury. Dana White addressed that issue and said, “You know, Jon Jones was training last night. Got injured. He was wrestling and he tore the tendon that connects your pec to the bone off the bone.”

Moreover, it does not look like Jon Jones will return to fight this year or even early next year. “Eight months, gonna need surgery. He’s out,” said the UFC CEO. This impromptu injury made Dana White make a few changes to the card on November 11. Let’s take a look at that front.
Dana White announces fight for the interim heavyweight title
The co-main event for the light heavyweight title between Alex Pereira vs Jiri Prochazka will now be the main event of UFC 295. However, there is a new fight added as the co-main event. The interim heavyweight title will be up for grabs between Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall, who have had impressive showings in their last few fights.

“So, the main event is [Jiri] Prochazka vs [Alex] Pereira. the co-main event now is [Sergei] Pavlovich vs [Tom] Aspinall for the interim heavyweight championship,” said Dana White. It remains to be seen how the heavyweight division will shape up with Jon Jones on the sidelines for a considerable amount of time.

The UFC has been riddled with injury as of late with changes coming in at UFC 294 and now at UFC 295. We will have to wait and see if there will be any further changes to the card. Regardless of that, the show will go on and will take place at Madison Square Garden on November 11.
